Drumming comes naturally...like beating the crap outta the skins is just built in. Jimmy got his first play drumset before age 5, and for years, living room and back porch concerts were the stage for his developing talent.

The clincher was a Phil Driscoll concert...all he can remember was an incredible, life-changing drum solo. Even from the nose-bleed seats, it appeared to be a wall of drums and cymbals, like a cage of noisy stuff, with lights flashing all around it and thumping beats that drove a hole in his soul!

From then on, ambition has always driven him to find that moment for himself...to be the man in the drum cage. It's that spark of passion, the moment shared between musician and audience, that keeps a fire burning in the feet and wrists.

Concert band in middle school (since he was unable to get placed in the trumpet section) kicked off a journey that took him through marching band in high school, and honed his technique. A random, all-day blues session turned into a grunge band, followed by rock-rap, bluegrass, alt-rock, southern rock/metal, metalcore and prog-metal...all with some broadway cabaret, drumming for dance groups, and cover bands mixed in.

If Jimmy F Hobbs was put on this earth to do anything, making music is it. Outside of song-writing, singing, audio-engineering and film endeavors, playing drums tends to be his wheelhouse. And if you haven't tried it, it's a great stress-reliever to boot!!

Success! Message received.
